Six From Sirius (4-issue mini; w Doug Moench; a
Paul Gulacy). [From Dynamite Entertainment: Six From
Sirius - created by the legendary team behind such powerful comic classics
as Master of Kung Fu, Slash Maraud, Star Wars: Crimson Empire and many more
- is now available in a first-ever collected edition. The series was first
released at the Epic imprint and has never before been collected. Six From
Sirius remains a high-water mark for action-filled, science fiction comics.
And it's waiting to be discovered by you! Dynamite has painstakingly restored
this first Six From Sirius series (and is working on the sequel series for
release in 2006!) and now presents the definitive, full-color edition, available
with two covers: one for the Comics Market and one for the Mass Market!] Book of the Week 10/26/05: Paul Gulacy has taken a lot of internet crap from me for ruining the charming Catwoman book. I've always tried to make it clear that it's not Gulacy himself, just that a very good artist was horribly mis-cast. Well, here's Gulacy in his own element—a film-noir sci-fi story told with Gulacy's characteristic cinematic flair, with lots of twists and turns to keep you going. Sure, it's kind of dated, but it was kind of dated when it came out with its retro elements. And that's OK—looking back can be a good thing, if you find useful elements there and put them to good use. And that's what Moench and Gulacy did in Six from Sirius: Looked back to look forward. Cool stuff. (And the fact that the trade has both a Direct Market and a Mass Market cover suggests tht it will be widely available. And if you like it, the sequel mini is due to be collected next year. |
