Quirky and heart-wrenching at the same time, SEAGUY is that rarest of creations: something utterly and completely new. “Aye, aye, Seaguy!”] Old Book of the Week 1/11/06: Another under-appreciated Morrison work, this sly charmer was the bastard stepchild of his unrelated group of minis last year. Underneath the goofy, relentlessly chipper surface of this story about a young man in a "perfect" world who yearns for adventure lies a scathing critique of a consumer culture that threatens to overwhelm and lobotimize us all. It's a sad reflection on the comic-buying public that this brilliant satire did not sell well enough to green-light the second and third chapters of a projected trilogy. But maybe if everybody runs out and buys the trade, DC will take notice...
