Poison ElvesMulehide/Sirius Entertainment. All written and drawn by Drew Hayes unless otherwise noted. |
| Volume 1 |
| Volume 1 was published in singles by Mulehide, and in trades by Sirius. Beginning with Volume 2, Sirius took over the singles as well. Issues 1-7 of Volume 1 were titled I, Lusiphur; with 8 it changed to Poison Elves. Issues 1-10 were magazine sized, and after that comic book sized. |
1 Requiem for an Elf (1-6). [From Sirius Entertainment: Thirteen candles made from wax and unicorn's intestines lit the tower's otherwise dank and dismal chamber. The air stank of the swamp far below the castle window, the rain lashing against it, of burning blood, and troll's bile. The latter was used by the old man who kneeled painfully in the center of the room to craft the short, black sticks with which he now drew on the stony floor. What he drew was large and profane. To the layman it would have appeared as a circular mass of scribbles and zig-zags, but to one even slightly versed in the dark arts, it would be instantly recognized, and unbelievable it was even there for practical use. ] |
2 Traumatic Dogs (7-12). [From Sirius Entertainment:Continuing Lusiphurs adventures from Volume 1, this collection pits our
misanthropic hero against a wealthy socialite, a macabre master of
dreams, and a wicked doppelganger. Lusiphur also meets Parintachin, the
spooky clown that lives in his head, and hooks back up with his
ex-wife, the sorceress Hyena.

3 Desert of the Third Sin (13-18). [From Sirius Entertainment: This third volume following the adventures of Lusiphur in Amrahlynn,
our hero deals with the aftermath of the three wishes granted him by
the djinni Anhikiahl. First, the 17th War Duke from the Elvin Highlands
hunts down Lusiphur to retrieve Cinlach, the enchanted sword Lusiphur
obtained as his first wish. Then, Lusiphur battles the elvin wizard
Tenth in an outrageous game of cat and mouse--literally. From there,
Lusiphur delves into the depths of his own mind (again, literally) to
stop an otherworldly being known as an Ejja from stealing his soul.

4 Patrons (19-20). [From Sirius Entertainment:This fourth volume wraps up the first stage in the history of Lusiphur,
wherein he and his new associate, Jace, save a damsel in distress from
a giant Dark Troll living on the outskirts of the Cambridge Mountains.
The only problem is, a Dark Trolls blood, when spilled, transforms into
more Dark Trolls. This makes them kind-of hard to kill. Nevertheless,
our intrepid heroes do their best to find a way around such
technicalities. But even when victory is accomplished, Lusiphurs real
trouble begins when the infamous Purple Maurader appears! This book
also includes a map of Amrahlynn, Lusiphurs world.

1-4 The Mulehide Years (1-20). [From Sirius Entertainment: From
1991 to 1995, Drew Hayes self-published an independent comic called both
I, Lusiphur and Poison Elves. The book you now hold in your hands contains
all 20 issues of Drew's seminal work, as well as a few extra surprises.
Also, for the first time ever, Drew has allowed the first two issues of
I, Lusiphur to be reprinted in their original form. Poison Elves is the
story of a misanthropic antihero named Lusiphur. He lives in a surprisingly
progressive medieval time period where magic and violence rule the land.
Having left the employ of an increasingly paranoid feudal lord, Lusiphur
begins his trek across Amrahly'nn in search of adventure - which he finds
in abundance. Within these pages you will find Demonlords, doppelgangers,
serial killers, Elvin Wardukes, beautiful d'jinnis and antagonistic wizards...
who all do their best to cause Lusiphur nothing but trouble. Steeped in
mythology, sociology and a world as real and complete as our own, Poison
Elves is shocking, funny and cynical - but most of all fun. So join Lusiphur
for the ride of his life and witness how the saga began.] |
| Volume 2 |
5 Sanctuary (1-12). [From Sirius Entertainment:
Frustrated by his retirement from the killing trade, the elvin rogue Lusiphur
welcomes an attempt on his life when past crimes finally catch up with him.
Hounded by the bounty hunter Ghost, the rogue elf discovers and joins Mandratha's
infamous assassin guild, Sanctuary. There, he finds everything he could
ever hope for in his murderous life: wealth beyond his imagining, a safe
haven from lawmen and vengeful enemies, even the fellow assassin Cassy to
romance. The charmed life never lasts long, though, and forces conspire
to wipe out Lusiphur... including martial arts master Mr. Moto, brilliant
detective Lt. Vido, rival assassin Lester, the ever-outlandish Purple Marauder,
and a mysterious new organization moving into Sanctuary territory! Written
and illustrated by Drew Hayes, the comic industry's most independent and
unrepentant creator.] |
6 Guild War (13-25). [From Sirius Entertainment:
This giant trade paperback collects the infamous Guild War of
Mandratha, up to and including the end of Lusiphur’s only happy relationship with fellow assassin Cassandra (that’s issues 13 through 25 for those of you keeping track). In these 280 pages you will witness Lusiphur’s capture and desperate escape from the Eye of the Lins, an all-out gang war between the assassins of Sanctuary and the renegade cops under Lt. Vido, the return of Lusiphur’s ex-wife Hyena, the return of Widowmaker, and the most shocking event in POISON ELVES history (and if don’t know what it is, we’re certainly not telling you!). ] |
7 Salvation (26-39). [From Sirius Entertainment:
Within this book you will experience the aftermath of the epic "Sanctuary"
storyline - and boy, is it bloody
with Cassie dead, Lusiphur is determined
to put each and every one of his girlfriend's murderers six feet under,
along with anyone else who happens to get in the way of his gun. In "The
Wolf" Luse hunts down the members of the Blood Guard to learn who killed
Cassie. To his horror he discovers that his old friend, Jace, caused his
girlfriend's death... In "Cat and Mouse" Lusiphur tries to escape
from the city of Mandratha, which would be easy enough if only he had the
remaining members of the assassin's guild and the city's entire police force
on his trail. Unfortunately, the wizard known as Tenth also has something
sinister planned for the mysanthropic elf, which results in Lusiphur getting
turned into a woman (yes, a woman). Finally, in "End," allthe
dangling plot-threads are confronted (but not necessarily resolved), which
clears the way for a greater evil that looms on the horizon...] |
8 Rogues (40-47). [From Sirius Entertainment:
This trade paperback, which collects issues 40 through 47 of Drew Hayes'
Poison Elves series, fills in the gap between the epic "Sanctuary"
and the ominous "Elvin Fire" sequence. Within these pages you
will be introduced to Cleah, an elf with mysterious ties to the High Council;
Winston, a tomboyish werewolf hunter; and Petunia, a tiny blue sprite with
a big attitude. These three women will come to play very different yet important
roles in the lives of Lusiphur and Jace, the errant heroes of Poison Elves.
In addition to a handful of short stories, this book revolves around a story
arc devoted to Drew's Amrahly'nnian version of werewolves - and as an added
bonus this book also contains one of Drew's funniest stories ever: "Night
of the Living Boots."] |
9 Baptism by Fire (48-59). [From Sirius Entertainment:
For decades, the elvin rogue named Lusiphur roamed the wilderness of Amrahly'nn,

the law, Luse and his friend Jace accept mercenary positions aboard a cargo
vessel, the Mary Brine, never knowing that fate has presented a turning
point in the killer's life. When a fabled artifact of enormous importance
falls into their hands, Lusiphur resolves to return the Elvin Fire to its
rightful owners - the High Council, lords and judicators of the elvin kingdom.

power. If he succeeds, he'll suffer for his bloody past. Will Lusiphur learn
the price of heroism?] |
10 Dark Wars 1: Heaven's Devils (61-68). [From
Sirius Entertainment: To atone for past crimes, the outlaws Lusiphur
and Jace enlist as the personal agents to an elvin High Lord. For their
first assignmetn, the rogues-turned-heroes must escort the psychic child
Wisp on a journey to the southern reaches of the continent, where he might
learn to control his power and defeat the amassing dark army. While blazing
a trail through hostile territory and being hounded by the deadliest monsters
in the dark army's ranks, Lusiphur and Jace discover that, to prevent Wisp
from falling into the clutches of the troll queen, they may have to sacrifice
their own lives.] |

2 Amrahlynn (4-issue mini; w Keith Davidson; a Aaron Bordner). [From Sirius Entertainment: Amrahlynn is the world of Poison Elves, where Tolkien-fantasy meets
Goth-sensibility in a continuing struggle between the races of man,
elf, troll and pixie. This volume is a collection of character solo
stories by Davidsen and Bordner, bound together by the narration of fan
favorite, funny-guy Parintichin. Each story features one of Lusiphur's
friends or nemeses, like Cassandra, Lynn & Jace and - of course - The Purple Marauder, in a complete tale of mayhem and debauchery, as the case may be. Also included are three extremely rare stories by Drew Hayes, never before available in graphic novel form, all wrapped together with a brand new cover by Hayes.] |
| Misc. |
Lusipher and Lilith (4-issue mini; w Drew Hayes; a Jason Alexander).
[From Sirius Entertainment: Poison Elves is gothic
fantasy at its finest, and the quintessential story contained in this book
revolves around two pivotal moments in the main character's life. Lusiphur
is a young elf whose persona has been forged by life on the mean streets
of Port Sarnwog. Then he meets Lirilith, a prep school debutante who's looking
for more out of life than her upper-crust lifestyle can provide her. Together,
they find love despite the forces that work against them. But when Lusiphur
is stabbed nearly to death by an enemy from his past, the two young lovers
find their paths being pulled apart. In the tradition of all great love
stories, this distinctly Poison Elves version has it all: passion, sorrow,
hatred, true love, and cold-blooded murder.] |
Parintachin (3-issue mini; w Drew Hayes, The Fillbach Brothers;
a The Fillbach Brothers). [From Sirius Entertainment:
Inside the mind of Lusiphur, Elvin assassin extraordinaire, lies a dream
world built on writhing tentacles and sun-baked deserts. But more than mere
idle thoughts call this surreal landscape home. A skull-faced jester traverses
the deepest recesses of the rogue's subconscious, the devilish imp Parintachin!
A killer clown sworn to protect his host's sanity, the lovable imp longs
for only one thing in all the world: companionship. But be careful what
you wish for! When a sinister sideshow rolls into town bent on stealing
Luse's memories, Parintachin alone stands a chance at saving him... if only
he could keep his eyes off the feisty female imp, Charzin. This sexy demon-dame
might be a little too much for our hero to handle! A perfect blend of mirth
and the macabre, Poison Elves: Parintachin explores the power, desires,
loneliness, and devotion of Lusiphur's most madcap friend.] |
