How about Titannus' plot to take over Japan?]
3 League of Losers (14-18; w Robert Kirkman; a Cory Walker, Paco Medina). [From Marvel Comics: The heroes of the Marvel Universe are no more. Spider-Man? Wolverine? Captain America? Iron Man? Gone - but the people of the world still need saving; they still need heroes. Make way for The League of Losers! Plus: The team-up you thought you'd never see! Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker's Invincible bounces over to the Marvel Universe for a visit!] Book of the Week 6/14/06: This is a book that slipped by me at first. The concept seemed so, well, 1970s. But I should have known that in the hands of Robert Kirkman, just about anything is gold. This volume is the best arc so far, with a very clever premise: A villain from the future has gathered all the surviving information about today's heroes, raised an army, and used both to come back and kill them all. The only heroes who survive the initial assault are those who were such complete non-entities, they left no trace on the historical record. That's right, the fate of the Earth is in the hands of—the League of Losers! And as a bonus, we get the team-up between Spider-Man and Image Comics' Invincible, who provides a refreshingly unique perspective on life in the Marvel Universe. Not great comics by any means, but highly entertaining stuff.
4 Freedom Ring (19-25; w Robert Kirkman; a Paco Medina, Andy Kuhn). [From Marvel Comics: An all-new hero is introduced into the Marvel Universe, but is the world ready for Freedom Ring? And what does all this have to do with a reality-altering ring crafted from broken shards of the cosmic cube? Featuring Wolverine, Cable, Captain America, Spider-Man and more!]
