Manhunter

DC Comics.

Manhunter: The Complete Saga (Detective Comics 437-443 [Manhunter stories only]; w Archie Goodwin; a Walt Simonson).
Manhunter: The Special Edition (As above, with a new 23-page story plotted by Goodwin & Simonson, and drawn by Simonson). [From DC Comics: The award-winning story by writer Archie Goodwin and artist Walter Simonson is collected in a stunning trade paperback, featuring a brand-new, wordless Manhunter story illustrated by Simonson from a plot completed by Goodwin before his death. Reprinting the story of big-game hunter-turned-super-hero Paul Kirk from DETECTIVE COMICS #437-443 (guest-starring Batman in its conclusion), the volume features a new cover by Simonson (printed on gold-colored metallic cardstock) and the 23- page captionless, dialogueless tale by Goodwin and Simonson, providing the perfect conclusion to an already legendary story.] Old Book of the Week 3/24/04
2004 series
1 Street Justice (1-5; w Marc Andreyko, a Jesus Saiz & Jimmy Palmiotti). [From DC Comics: When a case she's lost leads to the murder of innocents, prosecutor Kate Spencer rages into the night, tracking the perp who's eluded justice in the courts. She's found her true calling. She is the Manhunter. And she likes it.] U-Decide Book of the Week 11-9-05: I couldn't decide, so the good folks at Millarworld made up my mind for me—and they were torn. On the one hand, they liked Manhunter, which from what I've seen (the first issue) is a nifty, dark updating of the often-updated concept, this time a female D.A. who gets fed up with the restrictions of the legal system and decides to take more direct action in the war against crime. Only she finds that being a super-hero is a little harder than it seems in the comics. The book seemed intriguing to me, and I've been eagerly awaiting this trade.
2 Trial by Fire (6-14; w Marc Andreyko, a Javiar Pina, Jesus Saiz, Bard Walker). [From DC Comics: Prosecutor Kate Spencer is poised to take on the trial of the year, as the eyes of the nation are on her latest case: finding the Shadow Thief guilty of murdering the hero Firestorm.]
3 Origins (15-23; w Marc Andreyko, a Javiar Pina, Rags Morales, Sean Phillips, et al.). [From DC Comics: Follow the adventures of crimefighter Kate Spencer in this volume! Learn the origin of her costume and weapons, plus her startling connection to a hero of the Golden Age!]
4 Unleashed (24-30; w Marc Andreyko, a Javiar Pina, Ferdinand Blanco, Brad Walker, et al.). [From DC Comics: Manhunter Kate Spencer takes on her biggest case yet with Wonder Woman as the client, but the stakes are higher than anyone knows! Is the Amazon princess guilty of murdering Max Lord?] 1/30/08
