Groo has (a) his loyal dog, Rufferto, whose first appearances are included in this handsome paperback; and (b) comics fans everywhere who appreciate hilarious stories about the stupidest barbarian to ever swing a sword. At last report, the second group outnumbered the first. But just barely. The first appearances of Rufferto, Groo's loyal dog, are available for the first time in over ten years. When the palace dog runs away to seek adventure, he encounters -- and becomes enamored with -- the world's least intelligent barbarian, Groo! Rufferto thinks he has found a companion for life, but Groo just thinks he's found dinner. And when a reward is offered for Rufferto, our heroes become hunted by, well, just about everyone. What's a dumb wanderer and an only slightly smarter dog to do?]
9 Inferno (33-36). [From Dark Horse Comics: For some reason, people keep buying these Groo collections. So, in an effort to make a quick buck, Dark Horse is releasing The Groo Inferno, featuring four "classic" stories starring everyone's favorite moronic wanderer, Groo, and his slightly less stupid dog, Rufferto! See Groo recover a magical amulet for an evil wizard, only to end up unknowingly owning it himself--giving the world's dumbest barbarian the power to make anything happen, with the expected ridiculous consequences! See Groo "defend" a village from pirates, in which confusion reigns and nothing is resolved! See ten bucks fly out of your wallet, never to be seen again!]
10 Jamboree (37-40). [From Dark Horse Comics: Looking for excitement? Drama? Laughs? Stories that will challenge your intellect and sense of humanity? Then rush right out and buy the latest Ed McBain novel. It, however, is twenty-five bucks. This splendid paperback, reprinting four vintage Groo tales - stories of the world's stupidest barbarian - costs a lot less. As you read it, just remember: You get what you pay for.]
11 Kingdom (41-43, 46). [From Dark Horse Comics: If you fail to purchase this book (which reprints four vintage tales of a very stupid warrior), your hair will fall out, your dog will leave you, your friends will shun you, your family will disown you, your shoelaces will break, your teeth will turn yellow, your mailman will become disgruntled, your dinner will spoil, and your toilets will all back up. Better not to chance it.]
12 Library (44-45, 47, 49). [From Dark Horse Comics: Here's the deal: We take four of the all-time funniest Groo tales and we reprint them in this handsome, full-color volume. That's our end of the bargain. Yours is to purchase at least one copy of the book, take it home, and laugh your rear end off. (We were going to suggest that you also read the book... but that may be asking for too much.)]
13 Maiden (50-53). [From Dark Horse Comics: She is Groo's third love, right after cheese dip and frays. She is also the most skilled, powerful swordswoman in all the land. So will Chakaal someday succumb to the fatal charms of the Wanderer? Probably not… but he's flipped for her and so have we. We can content ourselves with the four vintage Groo tales that fill this volume. Groo is not so lucky...]
14 Nursery (48, 54-56). [From Dark Horse Comics: Take four seedy stories and bury them deep in the ground. Water them regularly and mulch often… and you know what you'll have? The Groo Nursery, a veritable bouquet of sweet-smelling Groo tales, will blossom before your eyes. They're been personally picked by those blooming idiots, Sergio Aragonés and Mark Evanier, who really oughta turn over a new leaf...]
15 Odyssey (57-60). [From Dark Horse Comics: You know the drill: We take four classic Groo tales and reprint them in this spiffy package. You buy it. You take it home. You read stories like "The Captain of Chinampa" and "One Fine Day." You laugh and yearn for more. We take the proceeds and squander it all on one big super-sized meal at Burger Barn. All parties are better-off than they were before.]
The Epic series continued to issue 120.
Minis
The Most Intelligent Man in the World (4-issue mini). [From Dark Horse Comics: When the barbarian with the lowest IQ in the world starts passing out words of wisdom and advice, all of his old cohorts and enemies come out of the woodwork to find out what's wrong, and no one's more confused than Rufferto, the most loyal little dog in Plentia. The adventures of Groo continue, as Sergio Aragonés, 1997 Harvey, Reuben, and Eisner Award-winner, teams with longtime accomplice Mark Evanier for a barbaric tale of temporary intelligence as only they can concoct. All new cover, new forward, and even new jokes!]
Groo & Rufferto (4-issue mini). [From Dark Horse Comics: ]
Mightier than the Sword (4-issue mini). [From Dark Horse Comics: Pipil Khan has a foolproof plan how to put Groo six feet under. Unfortunately for him, it may be that no plan is foolproof enough to thwart Groo.]
Death and Taxes (4-issue mini). [From Dark Horse Comics: There are only three things certain in this world: Death, Taxes, and silly back-cover copy for a Groo paperback. Oh - and it's also certain that inside this book, you'll find the latest and greatest adventure of the most dangerous man in comics… and his dog.]
Misc.
The Death of Groo (Marvel OGN).
Life of Groo (Marvel OGN). [From Graphitti Designs: The Life of Groo relates the awesome tale of Groo's clumsy, disaster-prone formative years… which, of course, should not be confused with his clumsy, disaster-prone adulthood. This pathetic tale has never before been revealed… possibly because it was a great secert, more likely because no one was interested. Mark Evanier wrote it, Sergio Aragonés drew it, and almost as many people read it! Now, at long last, The Life of Groo is back in print! And we're going to keep printing it until you buy it so you might as well get it over with!]
The Death & Life of Groo (Graphitti hardcover flipbook of the two above OGNs).
