Challengers of the Unknown Archives 1 (1-2, Showcase 6-7, 11-12; w Jack Kirby, Dave Wood; a Jack Kirby, George Klein, Roz Kirby, Bruno Premiani, Marvin Stein). [From DC Comics: Four years before Jack Kirby and Stan Lee created Marvel's Fantastic Four, there was another adventurous foursome co-created by Kirby that set forth to challenge the unknown. It was a concept way ahead of its time. The Challengers were Ace Morgan (crackerjack test pilot), Red Ryan (daredevil and mountain climber), Rocky Davis (heavyweight boxing champ) and Prof Haley (scientist specializing in underwater exploration) - four men who barely survived the crash of a small aircraft and now considered themselves to be living on borrowed time! Because they managed to avoid such a devastating fate, they dedicated themselves to a life of harrowing adventure, all in the name of good! Nothing was deemed too dangerous for the Challengers - after all, they should have been dead already. Debuting in the tryout comic Showcase, they quickly graduated to their own monthly comic, where the foursome faced the impossible and the unimaginable at every turn. In this first of a two-volume set, we present to you the first six comics featuring the Challengers: Showcase #6, 7, 11, and 12, and Challengers of the Unknown #1 and 2.]
